William C. “Bill” Wilhite, Jr. 84, of Farmerville, died Dec. 27, 2006 at his home after a courageous battle against cancer.
Born Dec. 16, 1922 in West Monroe, he was the son of William C. Wilhite, Sr. and Lillie Feazel Wilhite. Bill served honorably during World War II as a sea-going Marine on the battleship Washington in the southern Pacific. He served his time in the southern Pacific earning nine battle stars.
He was the first director of the Louisiana Technical College in Farmerville. He later went into business for himself as owner and operator of Bonded Warehouses of Monroe, Inc. He also opened Wilhite Moving & Storage Inc. in Bossier City.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, William “Billy” Wilhite, Johnetta Sission Wilhite Bell, his first wife and mother of his children, a sister, two brothers and his wife, Alice Breard Wilhite.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Ramsey Wilhite, sons, Fred Wilhite and wife, Debbie; and John Wilhite, daughter-in-law, Karen Wilhite; grandchildren, Jason Wilhite and wife Lori, Josh Wilhite, Billy Wilhite, and wife Michelle, and Katie Wilhite Brewer and husband, Jimmy, and great granddaughter, Lillie. Also, surviving are his step-children; Hoppy Hallman, Oppa Fife, Mary and Jimmy Lieux, Ramsey and Vironica Hallman and step-grandchildren: Will Fire and John and Matthew Hallman.
Bill requested that his body be donated to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport and that there be no memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial gift to a favorite charity in Bill’s memory.
