Funeral services for Mary Melisa (Gardner) Harper, age 88 of Oak Grove, Louisiana will be held at 2 PM on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Grove, Louisiana. Reverend Terry Jordan will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Forest Cemetery in Forest, Louisiana. Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove, Louisiana. Mrs. Harper passed into eternal life on Monday, November 9, 2020 at West Carroll Memorial Hospital in Oak Grove, Louisiana. Mary retired from the LSU Extention Service where she worked and made lifelong friends. She resided on North Johnson Street for 66 years. Her friends and neighbors were like extended family. She loved gardening with her dearest friend Jeanette Barnett. Their favorite season was springtime when all the azaleas would bloom. She loved traveling on family vacations in Arkansas and Missouri. Her greatest joy were her grandchildren and great grandson. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of West Carroll Memorial Hospital and Care Center for the compassionate care, it meant the world to the family. We all take comfort that the day will come when we will all be together again. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Harper; father, John Arthur Gardner; mother, Lillie Mae (Reed) Gardner; 7 brothers and 4 sisters. Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and David Fuselier of Benton, Louisiana; grandson, Daniel Fuselier of Benton, Louisiana; granddaughter and her husband, Dana Fuselier Orr and Travis Orr of Bossier City, Louisiana; great grandson, Thomas James Orr of Bossier City, Louisiana; and brother, M. L. Gardner of Lake Providence, Louisiana. Pallbearers are: Ronald Bedenbender, Clint Bedenbender, Steven Harper, Scott Harper, Brandon Harper, and Dustin Harper.
