Funeral services for William Thomas "Tom" Harper, age 89 of Oak Grove, Louisiana will be held at 2 PM on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Grove, Louisiana. Reverend Terry Jordan will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Forest Cemetery in Forest, Louisiana. Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove. Visitation will be held just prior to the service Monday beginning at 1 PM. Mr. Harper passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 at West Carroll Memorial Hospital in Oak Grove. Tom was a native and lifelong resident of West Carroll Parish where he attended Forest High School. A veteran of WWII he served in the U. S. Marine Corp in the occupancy of Japan. At the outbreak of the Korean War Tom served in the U. S. Army. He was wounded in Korea and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to trout fish in the Ozark Mountains in Missouri and Arkansas. He loved children and dogs and all the kids of the Park Hill area can attest to that. He is preceded in death by his parents, William P. Harper and Myrtis Brock Harper; 3 brothers: Marvin Curtis Harper, James "Reggie" Harper and Harold Wayne Harper and a sister, Margaret Mazzanti. He is survived by his wife, Mary Melissa Gardner Harper of Oak Grove, Louisiana; daughter and son-in-law, Vicky Harper Fuselier and David Fuselier of Benton, Louisiana; grandson, Daniel Fuselier of Benton, Louisiana; granddaughter, Dana Fuselier of Benton, Louisiana; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin Lee Harper and Lois Harper of Oak Grove; sister, Helen Dyche of Monroe, Louisiana; brother, Alvin Dee Harper of Oak Grove. Pallbearers are: Ronald Bedenbender, Clint Bedenbender, Jimmy Holland, Adam Holland, Scott Harper, and Brandon Harper.
