Killed in Action in France
Service #1610059 / He departed Hoboken, New Jersey en route to Europe on August 22, 1918, aboard the USS President Grant. He died in combat the day before the Armistice was signed ending World War I.
Upon his death, his body was buried in Grave #34, American B/A Cemetery, Peuvillers, Meuse, France. On May 20, 1919, his body was disinterred and reburied in Grave #170, Section 69, Plot 4, Cargonne American Cemetery, Romagne-sous-Montfalicon, Meuse, France. On July 19, 1921, his body was disinterred for shipment to the United States. His body arrived in Grayson, Louisiana on September 21, 1921.
