Mooringsport, LA – O. Morgan Pyle was born on May 14, 1918, in Parkers Chapel, Arkansas, to Minor and Alma Pyle, and passed away on April 9, 2017, in Vivian, Louisiana. He was a resident of Mooringsport, LA, for 52 years. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2017, at Mooringsport memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mooringsport, LA.
Morgan was a WWII veteran, and served in the Army Air Corp as a Tech Sergeant in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was a calm, stoic, and knowledgeable man. He could tell you every road from Louisiana, to Texas, to Arkansas. He knew every stat of baseball, could show you how to throw a split-finger, and there was always a ballgame on TV. The highlight of his last year was finally able to see his beloved Cubs win the World Series. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren, instilling in all of his family the kindness and steady trait in which he expressed daily.
Preceding Morgan in death were his wife of 69 years, Lois Key Pyle, his parents, brothers, Quinton and L. G. Pyle, and sisters Margie Price and Adelle Hudson. Also preceding him in death was his son-in-law, Ray Caskey, and a daughter-in-law, Martha Dickson. Left to cherish his memory are his six children, Billy Dickson and wife, Rosemary, of El Dorado, Arkansas; Ann Caskey Ryals and husband, J. B., of Mooringsport, Louisiana; Susan Hewitt of Shreveport; James Pyle of Mooringsport; Virginia Waller and husband, Kevin, of Three Creeks, Arkansas, and Celeste Ware and husband, Rush, of Haynesville. He also leaves 18 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Honoring the life of Pa Pyle as pallbearers will be his grandsons, John Ware, Shane Waller, David Caskey, Mike Caskey, Chris Caskey, Jeff Caskey and John Owens.
