(Note: The Louisiana Statewide Death Index listed his death as December 29, 1927, at Caldwell Parish, Louisiana)
He enlisted on June 14, 1861, at Lauderdale County, Mississippi. He was 17 years old upon his enlistment. Records list him as having several different discharge dates, the first showing July 26, 1861, at Richmond, Virginia. The reason shown for discharge was that he was underage. (Note: on or about April 26, 1862, the regiment was reorganized and the letters for all company's was changed - Company G was redesignated as Company F.) The Company Muster Roll for September 1862 showed he was discharged on August 23, 1862, at Richmond, Virginia. A Certification of Service, dated August 13, 1862, reflected his enlistment date as June 14, 1861, and discharged on May 12, 1862.
