February 28, 1940 - May 15, 2023
Death is a joyful message of peace whose hand opens to the weary pilgrim in the gate of immortality and let the oppressed go free. Without advanced preparation, life’s often joyous and sometimes tumultuous battle came to a close for our mother, Rose Lee Boyd, when death freed the soul of our dear mother on Monday, May 15, 2023.
Rose Lee Boyd was born February 28, 1940, in Colfax, LA, to the late Augustine Locket and Robert E. Boyd, Sr. She crossed over into glory on May 15, 2023, at 8:10 AM at St. Francis Medical Center. She was a retired Master Sergeant of many years at LTI and Swason Correctional Center. Rose was a hard worker and a great cook, which everyone loved about her. She was very outgoing when it came to helping people and her personality was one of a kind while also very outspoken. She loved her soaps, coffee, and them watermelon jolly ranchers.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Augustine Locket; father, Robert E. Boyd, Sr.; sisters, Betty Gray and Alma Donaldson; two brothers, Robert Boyd, Jr., and Ernest Cooky Boyd; also one son, Freddie Mims, Jr.
She leaves to cherish memories: her daughter, Shelia Renee Mims; son, James Otis Oliver; daughter-in-law, Shelia Clark Mims; and also a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, friends, and other relatives.
