STAFF SERGEANT US Army Air Corp
World War II
October 26, 1917 - July 1, 1944
Died while a Prisoner of War
"Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Nelson have been advised by the war department that their son, S-Sgt Cecil C. Nelson, 26, has been given up as dead. Young Nelson had served nine years in the army and had been stationed in the Philippines before the war. He came back to the United States but was returned to the Philippines just prior to the Pearl Harbor attack. He was taken prisoner by the Japanese in the Philippines in 1942. The war department advised that Sergeant Nelson died in Japan on July 1, 1944, as a result of injuries received while a prisoner of war."
