He enlisted September 25, 1862 at Camp Pratt, Louisiana. The January - February 1864 Company Muster Roll listed him as dropped from the roll on February 20, 1864. His name appeared on a Roll of Prisoners of War after Confederate forces surrendered in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 26, 1865. He was paroled in Alexandria, Louisiana on June 26, 1865.
