He fought in the Battle of Mansfield (Louisiana) on April 8, 1864. His name appeared on a Roll of Prisoners of War after Confederate forces surrendered in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 26, 1865. He was paroled in Alexandria, Louisiana on June 28, 1865.
