James Givens, 76, of Mooringsport, LA passed away October 2, 2014. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Mooringsport Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mooringsport, LA officiated by Dana Casey. There will be a time of visitation from 6-8 pm on Friday, October 3rd at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian, LA. James was born February 15, 1938 in Carrizon Springs, TX to Oscar Givens Sr. and Dessie Thomas Givens. He had lived in the Mooringsport area for the past 27 years after moving from Shreveport. He and his wife owned and ran a service station in Mooringsport for over 25 years. He served his country in the US Army and he was a Baptist by faith. James is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Givens, his 3 children; Leslie Donnell, Teresa Morris and Melissa Lanius, his 3 grandchildren; Michael Donnell, Kimberly Morris and Blake Morris, his great grandchild Dillon Donnell, his nephew Rodney T. Givens and other cousins and family members. Pallbearers will be Robert Morris, Blake Morris, Michael Donnell, Tommy Murray, LeRoy Norris and David Lanius. Honorary pallbearer is Virgil Kessel.
