HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Mrs. Leigh Ellen Yates, 55, at the Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 405 E. 5th Street in Homer, LA, on Thursday, January 22, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. David Gazaway and Tina Driskill, officiating. Interment followed at Fellowship cemetery in Dubach, La. The family received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 21, from 5-8 p.m. Mrs. Yates was born on March, 30, 1959, in Shreveport, LA, to Bobby Gene and Laura Malva Davis. She entered into rest on Tuesday, January, 20, 2015, at her home in Homer, LA. Mrs. Yates graduated as Co-Valedictorian of her high school class. She was also a graduate of Vo-Tech in Ruston, LA, where she received a degree for an LPN and worked in the health care industry for 30 years. Mrs. Yates enjoyed four wheel riding, especially in Mena, AR, with Kevin Green and their friends on "Trail 8." Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by her mother and step-mother, Mary Davis. She is survived by her husband of five years, Jim Yates; her father of Mt. Lebanon, LA; a daughter, Laura Megan Kennedy of Downsville, LA; three sisters, Laura Louise Page and Robert of Oklahoma City, OK, Peggy Cummings and Joe of Mt Lebanon, LA, and Betsy Greeno and Mike of Oregon; two grandsons, Trenton Kade Ougel and Madden Lane McAdams. Pallbearers were Richard Woods, Tony Streetman, Bob Page, Mike Robinson, Billy Lafitte and Bill Durr. Honorary pallbearer were Kade Ougel.
For friends considering memorials to Mrs. Yates, her family suggests the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
