Funeral services for Allen Ray Strickland, 74, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Mrs. Tammy Lofton officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Allen was born on November 22, 1943 to Allen and Ida Strickland in Springhill, LA and went to be with the Lord on August 30, 2018. He was a lifelong resident of Louisiana and worked as a roofer for most of his life. Allen loved the Lord and attended Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church when he was a young boy and Calvary Baptist Church when he was older. When Allen was younger, he loved taking his kids motorcycle racing. He enjoyed barbecuing, making beef jerky, gardening, and watching football games. He was a very loving and caring father who touched the hearts of all who knew him. Allen was preceded in death by his father, Allen Austin Strickland; mother, Ida Williams; and stepfather, Henry Williams. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 56 years, Ethel Nedra "Nita" Strickland; sons, Bubba Strickland and wife Rhonda and Mark Strickland and wife Lisa; daughter, Tammy Fast and husband Curt; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Honoring Allen as pallbearers will be Joe Taravella, Derrick Lofton, Andrew Cox, Blake Carter, Jimmy Davis, and Todd Davis.
