He enlisted in December 1862, at Camp Bisland, Louisiana. His name appeared on a Roll of Prisoners of War after Confederate forces surrendered in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 26, 1865. He was paroled in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana on June 8, 1865.
