LAFAYETTE - Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 12, 2014 in Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel of the Flowers for Dale B. Baker, 87, who passed away on July 8, 2014 at 1:54 pm at his residence.

Pastor Thomas Faulk of First Assembly of God Church will conduct the funeral services. Howard A. Varnado will assist with the services.

Burial will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Dale, a resident of Lafayette, LA was the son of the late A B Baker and the former Katie Pledger.

Dale was a faithful husband of sixty-three years and dedicated father whose life was an example of love and devotion to his family and friends. Though he was a man of few words, his life spoke volumes. He was a servant to all and sacrificial in his giving of himself. He taught his grandsons how to serve, protect, and provide for their families by his example. He had many hobbies including photography, golf, racket ball, hunting, to name a few. He was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ and had security of spending eternity with God through His grace and forgiveness of sins.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Dwyer Baker; his daughters, Becky J. Varnado and her husband Howard and Karen L. Blackburn and her husband Dr. James Blackburn; his five grandchildren, Jesse Varnado, Tamara Ohman, Kayla Bernard, Matthew Bernard and Paul Varnado, and his seven great grandchildren and his sister, Kay Carter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter Hannah Grace Varnado

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive on Friday, July 11, 2014, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visiting hours will continue on Saturday, July 12, 2014, from 10:00 am until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be Jesse and Paul Varnado, Matthew Bernard, Mike Powell, Harold Norman and Rory Suire.
