Mausoleum
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 3, 2015 at Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers in Lafayette for James Edgar Gremillion, 92, who passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Reverend Daniel Edwards, Pastor of St. Jules Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass. Lectors will be Barbara Helveston and Rachel Gremillion.
Burial with Military Honors will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Edgar, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Wilmore Gremillion and the former Lelia Gauthier.
Edgar was a graduate of Cottonport High School. He joined the U. S. Navy and shipped out to the Pacific during World War II. After the war, he continued his education attending Loyola, Southwestern Louisiana Institute (SLI) now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL), Tulane, and Soulé Business College. He was the owner of Brokers Insurance Agency until his retirement. Edgar was very active in several community organizations: he was financial secretary for the Knights of Columbus Council 1286, president and board member for L.A.R.C. He was instrumental in bringing L.A.R.C. to the fully functioning organization it is today. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, camping, and traveling. He was a huge fan of ULL softball, Big Band music, and enjoyed spending time at Toledo Bend.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margaret Hebert Gremillion; his children: Kathy Wall (Don), Jimmy Gremillion, Lucy Begnaud (Butch), Phil Gremillion (Connie), Billy Gremillion (Pam), Joan Broussard (Glynn), Ruth Loving (Wayne), and Amy Claire Bordelon (Jimmy); his grandchildren: Sydney and Donovan Wall, Ashley True, Rachel and Julie Gremillion, Barbara Helveston, Geoff Begnaud, Claire Murphy, Lauren McDonagh, Barrett Broussard, Brittney Rodriguez, Law, Everett, Landry, and Matthew Loving, Aidan and Amelie Bordelon; 7 great grandchildren; and his sister Olive Basha.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson, Edgar Jeabert Gremillion, and his sister, Irene Gremillion.
The family would like to thank his wonderful caregivers and Hospice of Acadiana staff for their loving care.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Saturday, January 2, 2016 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Saturday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Sunday from 8:00AM until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Barrett Broussard, Everrett Loving, Matthew Loving, Aidan Bordelon, Francis Hebert, and Butch Begnaud.
