CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 28, 2011 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Danny "Coon" Vining, age 61, who passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 3:37 a.m. at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Lafayette. The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Musical selections will be provided by Julie Broussard, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be Amazing Grace, Be Not Afraid, How Great Thou Art and One Bread, One Body.

Mr. Vining was a native of Bayou Lafourche and a resident of Cecilia since 1993. He graduated from South Lafourche High School in 1968. Mr. Vining retired from Baker Oil Tools with over twenty years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Breaux Bridge. He was loved by all who knew him and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. Once you met him, you never forgot him because of his caring nature and sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife of thirty seven years, Kathy Daigle Vining, of Breaux Bridge; four daughters, Daisy Vining of Galliano, Danielle Vining and wife, Season Gomez, of Baton Rouge, Crystal Vining of Scott and Dannie Vining of Cecilia; five grandchildren; three brothers, Marvin Vining of Hammond, Joey Vining of Houma and Tim Vining and his partner, Stephen Donahue, of Toronto, Canada; and one sister, Diane Vining, of OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Vining and the former Una Toups; his paternal grandparents, Buck and Henrietta Vining; his maternal grandparents, Manuel and Viola Toups; his mother-in-law, Nolia Meche Daigle; and his grandson, Maddix Adam Roger.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
