Lafayette - Jeremy McFarland Norwood passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the age of 46 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 16, 1971 to James R Norwood, Jr and Janet Waters Norwood.
Jeremy was a 1989 graduate of Lafayette High School. He joined the United States Army in 1990 and proudly served in Desert Storm. He graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2000. He was a special investigator for the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board and the Louisiana Attorney General. Jeremy enjoyed spending time with his boys and bringing them to the movies and the Icegators games. He also enjoyed traveling and LSU football games with his family and friends.
He is survived by his sons Bryton S Norwood of Starkville, Mississippi and Ian J Norwood of Goliad, Texas; his father James Norwood of Lafayette; brother James Norwood, III of Colorado Springs; brother Jason and wife Tina Norwood of Hahnville, Louisiana; Justin and wife Kim Norwood of Prairieville, Louisiana; brother Jonathan and wife Robin Norwood of Lafayette; and a host of relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by mother Janet Norwood; grandmother Helen K Waters; grandfather Duane Waters; Grandmother Fanny McFarland and Grandfather James R Norwood, Sr.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of the service.
Minister Danny Hebert, Pastor of Riverside Church of Christ, will officiate.
Memorial contributions can be made in Jeremy's name to St Joseph Hospice, 923 W.Pinhook Road, Lafayette, Louisiana, 70503.
Special thanks to the staff of the Carpenter House of Lafayette for their excellent care during the last days of Jeremy's life.
