AVIATION MACHINIST'S MATE SECOND CLASS US Navy
November 19, 1964 - April 1, 2014
LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 11:00 am in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Jimmie P Castex, age 49, who passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 7:25 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Lafayette. Rev Chad Thibodeaux, pastor of Vatican Baptist Church, will officiate at the services.
Mr Castex was a native of Lafayette, where he lived most of his life. He was employed with PHI of Lafayette for the past 17 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. During his time stationed in San Diego, he met and married his wife Linda, who was also in the United States Navy.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years Linda Arvin Castex of Lafayette; son, Joseph Castex and fiancée Mindy Lancaster, of Lafayette; daughters Jennifer Castex and fiancé Bryant Clark of Scott, Jacqueline Castex and boyfriend Dillon Meadows of Lafayette; grandson, Evan Michael Clark and one on the way, Carson Phillip Clark; nephew Brandon Short and wife, Lisa of Lafayette; mother-in-law Sarah Lois Peace Arvin of Springfield, Ohio; brothers-in-law Elmer Lee Arvin and wife Karen, Phillip Arvin, Edward T Arvin and wife Erin, all of Springfield, Ohio, Daniel Arvin and wife Ofelia, Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, David Arvin and wife Katina, of Springfield, Ohio; and sisters-in-law, Tammy Patton and husband Chet, of Springfield, Ohio, Rhonda Finch and husband Kenny, of New Carlisle, Ohio, Kathleen Pace and husband Michael, of Springfield, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents, Lawrence Castex and the former Mazie Zeno; and his father-in-law Elmer Arvin.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed 9:30 am to 10:00 pm Friday and will continue 9:00 am until service time on Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Chad Noel, Lane Broussard, Terry Melancon, Tom Lane, Scott Landry, Horace Doucet, Danny Northcutt and Brandon Short.
