LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2012 at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St Jules Catholic Church for Jasper "Buddy" Newton Ring, Jr, 80, who died Wednesday, June 27, 2012, after a brief illness, at his residence in Lafayette surrounded by his family.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Reverend Daniel Edwards, Pastor of St Jules Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Jasper A. Ring and M. Brady Lerille. Giftbearers will be Abby M. Andrus, Emily M. Lerille and Olivia F. Lerille. Karen Melancon, Vocalist, accompanied by Karen Broussard, organist, will sing for the services, "Amazing Grace", "The Old Rugged Cross", "There is a Stirring Deep Within Me", and "Battle Hymn of the Republic". Jacqueline Ring Lerille will give the eulogy.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Yvonne Marie Cormier Ring; one son, Dr. Jasper Newton Ring III and his wife, Jari Lynn; two daughters, Jennifer R. Ring Andrus and her husband, Matt and Jacqueline M. Ring Lerille and her husband, Mark; seven beloved grandchildren, Abby M. Andrus, Jasper A. Ring, Joshua I. Ring, Jonathan F. Ring, M. Brady Lerille, Emily M. Lerille, and Olivia F. Lerille; one great grandchild, Noah M. Geoffroy; one sister, Betty Jo Ring York and her husband, Luther; and one brother, John Paul Ring and his wife, Betty June.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Cameron Matthew Andrus; his parents, Jasper Newton Ring, Sr. and Beva Beatrice Turner Ring; his in laws, Abby and Olivia Cormier; and two sisters, Edith R. Stricklan and Juanita R. Barefoot.

Jasper Newton Ring, Jr. was born on August 28, 1931 in Decatur, Texas. He grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and was a graduate of Lake Worth High School. Following graduation, Jasper joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during the Korean War, earning a National Defense Medal. He moved to Lafayette, Louisiana where he remained for most of his life. Mr. Ring worked in the oil and gas industry for over 50 years, and made significant contributions as a pioneer in the wireline services industry, including managing strategic petroleum reserves in the area. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his children and grandchildren. Mr. Ring "PaPaw" enthusiastically attended sporting events, award ceremonies, milestones and celebrations for his grandchildren and happily endured his daughters and granddaughters dance recitals. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and dear friend to all and will be sadly missed.

Pallbearers will be Jasper A. Ring, M. Brady Lerille, Joshua I. Ring, Jonathan F. Ring, G. Matthew Andrus and Mark J. Lerille.

A Rosary will be recited by the St. Jules Catholic Daughters of Americas Court # 1997 on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Friday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Ring's name to Heart of Hospice, 201 W. Vermilion, Lafayette, LA. 70501 or to the The National Meningitis Association, Inc. P.O. Box 725165 Atlanta, GA 31139.
