December 8, 1917 - March 17, 2012
Virgie Mary Heck, a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012, at St James Place. She was retired as Director of Student Employment at Louisiana State University. She was born on December 8, 1917, in Brusly. She was preceded in death by her parents Henri and Hortense Heck; and eight brothers and sisters, Elsie Olinde, Julia Cassidy, Henry Heck, Harold Heck, Ollie Sheffield, Carl Heck, Berlin Heck and Herman Heck. She is survived by one sister, Lilla May Moreau Bennett; 40 nieces and nephews, and numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. She was also the author and publisher of the reknown publication, "The Virgie List", which has annually been revised and reproduced since 1947. Visitation and Mass will be on Wednesday, March 21, from 10 to 12 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Brusly, followed by burial in the church cemetery. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of St. James Place-Highland Court and to Hospice of Baton Rouge for their loving service to Virgie. She was a unique lady with a unique sense of humor and always liked a good story. Her final message to all of you who knew and loved her is "See you in the Funnies"!
