ST. MARTINVILLE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for JoeAnn LeBlanc Escoyne at 11:00 am Monday, July 16, 2018 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. Rev. Rusty Richard will be the celebrant. Mrs. Escoyne will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Lawrence at St. Michaels Cemetery following the mass.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Sunday from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being prayed at 7:00 pm. Visiting hours will resume on Monday from 8:00 am until 10:30 am.

JoeAnn was born February 7, 1939 in Catahoula to the Ange LeBlanc and the late Ange Marie Girouard LeBlanc, and passed away peacefully Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Landmark of Acadiana with her family at her side. She was 79.

JoeAnn was a homemaker who lived for the love and care of her family. She lived a life of faith and had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother. She faithfully fulfilled her adoration hour at St. Martin de tours Church and had an altar in her home as well. Her best times were those spent with her children and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved going out to eat, especially to Robin’s in Henderson where she always had a whiskey sour with her meal. Some of her favorite pastimes were crocheting, playing cards and visiting with her friends for coffee and a cigarette. JoeAnn leaves a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her four children, Gwendolyn Escoyne Gilliland and husband Dwight, Vernon Anthony Escoyne, Angela Escoyne Guidry and Yvette Escoyne Bourque and husband Harold; eight grandchildren, Zachary Broussard, Lauren Angelina & husband Rik, Natalie Broussard, Hillary Savoy and husband Gerald, Beau Akers, Courtney Akers, Naomie Gerard and husband Lina, Tyler Paul Bourque & Carly; her great grandchildren, Elena Escoyne, Aleda Shirly, Olivia and Zoe Angelina, Ashtyn Spell, Brianna and Bella Akers, Emily, Easton and Egan Gerard, Aiden and Adley Bourque, and one expected; and her brother, Nathan LeBlanc.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Paul Escoyne; and her sister, Verna Mae “Mamie” Champagne.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Vernon Escoyne, Dwight Gilliland, Tyler Bourque, Lina Gerard, Zachary Broussard and Rik Angelina. Harold Bourque and Nathan LeBlanc will serve as honorary pallbearers.
