St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Sue A. Byron, 79, who passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Wednesday and continue on Thursday at 7:00 am until 9:30 am.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Wednesday.

Fr. Jason Vidrine will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Daisy Trahan and Alaina LeBlanc. Gift Bearers will be Shelly Byron and Megan Hicks.

Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.

Sue was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She especially loved being the care of her husband, Norris and caring for her grandchildren. A devout and faithful Catholic, Sue treasured the times she spent praying the Rosary daily and offering prayers of intentions for those in need. As a pastime, she enjoyed crocheting, playing Bingo and casino games on her iPad, and telling stories.

She is survived by her husband, Norris Joseph Byron; two sons, Berchman Byron (Della) and Richard Byron (Jennifer); five daughters, Sharon Doucet (Nolan), Sandra Patin (Bryan), Janice Deshotel (Tony), Bernadette Byron, and Helen LeBlanc (Clyde); sister, Eva Dell LeBlanc; 21 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie Alfred Smith and Martha Lanclos Smith; and three brothers, Robert Smith, Carol Smith, and Gerald Smith.

Pallbearers will be Berchman Byron, Richard Byron, Clyde LeBlanc, Jr., Nolan (Peewee) Doucet, Bryan Patin, and Brandon Doucet.

Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville, 112 New Market St., St. Martinville, LA 70582, (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
