Robert Lewis Goodwin of Shreveport and New Orleans passed away Friday, January 29, 2010. Visitation will be held 4:00 until 6:00 pm Sunday, January 31 at Osborn Funeral Home. Graveside services will begin at 10:00 am Monday, February 1, 2010 at Forest Park Cemetery. Mr Goodwin was born August 30, 1924 in Erath County, Texas. The first 18 years of his life were spent on the family ranch, after which he was a resident of Shreveport and New Orleans. He attended Texas A&M University and was a graduate of Centenary College, was elected to the Centenary Board of Trustees in 1996 and elected to the Centenary Hall of Fame in 1999. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Shreveport. He was in the oil and gas industry for more than 50 years and served as Chairman and President of Exchange Oil and Gas Corp., Chairman of Great River Oil & Gas Corporation, Vice-President of Georgia-Pacific Corporation, President of the Louisiana Division of the Mid-Continent Oil & Gas Association and President of the New Orleans Petroleum Club. He was a member of the World Trade Center, New Orleans, charter member of the American Association of Petroleum Landmen, a member of The Shreveport Club, the Boston Club, New Orleans and the Sons of the American Revolution. Mr Goodwin was preceded in death by wife of 59 years, Jessica Goodwin; parents Iva and Ernest Goodwin; and sisters Nina Marie Goodwin Couch and Jeanne Pittman. He is survived by sister Nelda Ruth Echols and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Centenary College, P O Box 41188, Shreveport, Louisiana 71134, Raintree Children Services, 1233 Eighth St New Orleans, Louisiana 70115 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
