Funeral services for Vernon R Platt, 53, of Ferriday, Louisiana will be held December 30, 2013 at 11:00am from Doty Road Church of God in Ferriday. Burial will follow at the Ferriday Cemetery.
Mr Platt, son of Roosevelt Platt, Sr and Georgia Smith Platt was born in Ferriday and died at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, Louisiana. He was a truck driver for a honey bee farm. He also served his country in the United States Marine Corp.
He is survived by his mother; sons Kendrick Brown and Dewayne Cain all of Ferriday; daughter JaLisa Lee of Baton Rouge,Louisiana; brothers Ronald Platt and wife Cynthia; Roosevelt Platt, Jr and Joseph Platt all of Ferriday; step grandmother Leola Smith of New Orleans, Louisiana; two grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr Platt was preceded in death by his father and sister Patricia Platt Thomas.
