He enlisted June 18, 1862, in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana. His enlistment date changed to August 21, 1862, when Major General Taylor accepted the unit in to confederate service. His name appeared on a Roll of Prisoners Of War when the army surrendered in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 26, 1865. He was paroled June 10, 1865, in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
