Funeral services for Johnnie Edward Minor, 67, of Vidalia, Louisiana will be held Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 2:00pm from Zion Baptist Church in Vidalia. Burial will follow at the Vidalia Cemetery with military honors. Reverend Johnny Elery will officiate. Under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday afternoon from 4 to 6pm at Concordia Funeral Home.
Mr Minor, son of Isaac and Irma Hamilton Minor was born in Vidalia and died at Merit Health Natchez, in Natchez, Mississippi. He was a certified water plant operator for the City of Vidalia. He was also a member of Zion Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Air Force.
He is survived by wife Rose Bevily Minor; sons Johnnie Minor, II and wife, Ashley all of Vidalia; Kelsey Minor and wife, Gloria of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; daughter Sherian Minor Battle and husband, Victor of Ypsilanta, Michigan; step daughter Shelia Dye and husband, Andrew of Vidalia; brothers Alvin Moore and wife Ana of Baltimore, Maryland and Donald Moore and wife, Cathy of Mesquite, Texas. Sisters, Majorie Craddock of Los Angeles, California; Maude Hooker and husband, Donell of Jackson, Mississippi; Sarah Matthews and husband, James; Rosemary Minor all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; a niece he raised as his own daughter Marquita Johnson and husband Corey of Pearl, Mississippi; grandchildren Diamond Moses, Kaycee Minor, Madison Minor, Kelsie Minor, all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, John Toyrian Minor, Aubree Minor, both of Vidalia, Louisiana, Cordell Minor, Shapaula Minor Jones, Horation Jones, all of Ypsilanti, Michigan, MaKylah Johnson, Camiyah Johnson, both of Pearl, Mississippi; great-grand child, Jamar Johnson of Pearl, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Mr Minor is preceded in death by parents; brother Curtis; grandson, Kelsey Minor, Jr.
