Funeral services for Edward "ED" "Son" Hooper, 87, of Vidalia, Louisiana will be held March 5, 2016 at 11:00am from St Thomas Baptist Church in Levee Heights, Ferriday, Louisiana. Burial will follow at the Vidalia Cemetery with Reverend Robert Strickland officiating. Mr Hooper, son of Willie and Clara Stafford Hooper was born in Shaw, Louisiana and died at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, Louisiana. He was retired from the Louisiana Wildlife & Fisheries and the 5th District Levee Board. He was one of the original members of the Shaw Spiritual singers. He was always known for singing one of his favorite songs at funerals, "When You Heard of My Homegoing, Don't Worry 'bout Me."

His survivors are his wife of sixty six years Cleo Neal Hooper of Vidalia; sons, Ernest Hooper and wife Doris of Ferriday; Floyd Hooper of Vidalia; Dwayne Hooper and wife Felecia of San Pedro, California; daughters, Patricia Burgess and husband Charles of Gonzales, Louisiana; Mary McDonald of Woodville, Mississippi; Carol Armsted and husband Clarence, Sr of Natchez, Mississippi. Also eight grandchildren and twenty five great-grandchildren; dedicated niece, Deborah Zeek Polk of Vidalia; sisters-in-law, Rosie Lee Hooper, Mary Turner and Savannah Neal; brothers-in-law, James Neal and John Neal and wife Addie; lifetime friend and confidante, Willie Milligan of Ferriday. And a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
