Funeral services will be held Friday, April 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St Paul Catholic Church for James Michael Despanie, 65, who passed away April 23, 2012 at his residence in Lafayette. He will be buried in Calvary Cemetery. Fr Robert Seay will officiate the service.

Visitation will be Friday, April 27, 2012 at Kinchen Funeral Home from 7:00-10:30 AM.
He was born in Lafayette, Louisiana January 6,
1947 to Octavia Despanie. He attended St Paul's Elementary School, Holy Rosary Institute and Southern University. After leaving Southern University, Michael went in to the Army and served two years in Vietnam where he received many commendations for his
service. He received the National Defense Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars and was also recognized as a Sharpshooter. After leaving the Army Michael became the caregiver for his grandfather
Camille, his mother Octavia and his Aunt Jeanette.
He loved doing things with his family and friends. He liked attending parties and was an excellent dancer. Sometimes young ladies would line up to make sure they got their chance to dance with T-Comm. He also liked going to Casinos and playing cards. He was preceded in death by mother Octavia Despanie; grand- parents Camille and Mary Constantine Despanie; aunts
Albertha, Jeanette and Mildred Despanie and uncles Sincere, Charles and Benjamin Despanie.He leaves to cherish his memories sisters Lucy Despanie Chaisson
(John) and Loretta Despanie Davis both of Lafayette, daughters Clarissa Morgan of Atlanta, Georgia and Jamie Barfield of Lafayette;6 grandchildren; great aunt Mrs Helma Constantine of Lafayette, uncles Winthrop Despanie and Deacon Raymond Despanie, Sr
(Evelyn) of Houston, Texas; niece and also his God -child April Despanie Starwood (Vince) of Lafayette, niece Dana Despanie White of Dallas, Texas; nephew Marcus Chaisson of Lafayette, great nieces Chancei White of Dallas, Texas and Lavryn Starwood of Lafayette,great nephew Elijah Black of Lafayette, other Godchildren Patricia Despanie of Houston, Texas and Kimberly Morrison of Lafayette, along with a host of loving cousins, friends and classmates.
Michael will be truly missed.
