Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 11:00AM at Kinchen Funeral Home in Lafayette for Randy James Thorn Sr. who passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery following the funeral.
Randy James Thorn Sr., known to everyone as "ZEE-DOC, ZEE or SLIM", was born March 22, 1972 to Cynthia Thorn and Pastor Vincent West. Although he was the second oldest of his mother's children, he was often mistaken for the oldest. Maybe because he towered over his siblings, or maybe it was his natural ability to lead, or be the BOSS!
Randy and his family lived in Southwest Houston, TX, for the past 11 years where he worked for Rotary Drilling Tools of Beasley, TX, as a Maintenance Supervisor until his illness prevented him from working any longer. However, he did not let having Sickle Cell stop him. Anyone who knew him knew he could do anything. He was our, "Jack of all Trades", or MacGyver. He was an electrician, plumber, carpenter, mechanic, barber, landscaper, babysitter, uber driver, moving man…you name it and he could do it!
Randy touched everyone he came in contact with. Everyone who met him loved him! He took care of his family and anyone else whom he could help. He was his Mother's, "Go to Child". Whether she needed it or wanted it, he gave it. The day he died Heaven truly gained an Angel.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 11 years; Andrea Bruno-Thorn; his children, Logan Bruno-Thorn, Randy Thorn Jr., (RJ), Kiara Vilo, and DeKristian Thorn; his mother; Cynthia Thorn; his father, Pastor Vincent West (Lillie Mae); one brother, Christopher Thorn; two sisters, Shantell Thorn (Henry), Lawanna Hicks (Marcus); half-sister, Charlotte Thomas (James); step brothers, Rafael Thibeaux (Halona), Johnny Thibeaux (Deciella); step sister, Demangella Thibeaux (Beverly); his nieces and nephews: Damara Thorn, Dequincy Saine, Kennedy Alfred, Desdemona Francis, Destiny Thorn, Kaleigh Alfred, Demarion Thorn, Seth Hicks and Ian Hicks and a host of other family members and friends. Randy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Genevie and Willie Thorn; two aunts, Linda Thorn, Hilda Thorn; three uncles, Oscar West Sr., Calvin West, and Earl West; one brother, John Thorn; and two cousins, Joseph Thorn and Elcobie Thorn.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 7:00AM until time of service at 11:00 AM at Kinchen Funeral Home.
