SCOTT ~ Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Family Life Church (2223 Dulles Dr., Lafayette, LA 70506) for Debra Carmouche Zenon, age 62, who passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021 at University Hospital and Clinics in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Debra Carmouche Zenon, a native of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Mr. Joseph Emery Carmouche Sr. and Ms. Georgia Richard Carmouche. As a child and into adulthood, Debra walked in faith and led with purpose, always reminding others to live life to the fullest. Everyone she touched was, and continues to be, inspired by her strength and resolve. Debra enjoyed playing softball where she dominated the shortstop position while playing with the Ebony Sistas. Debra excelled in school and graduated from Lafayette High, Class of 1977.

After graduating Debra worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at several facilities until retirement. She had a devotion for helping the sick and less fortunate. Her passion was the Lord and building an everlasting bond with him. She served as a praise dancer and was in the transportation ministry for many years at Destiny of Faith Church. She spent endless hours loving her dog Maxwell, there’s nothing they didn’t do together. If Max couldn’t go, neither could she. Debra enjoyed family gatherings and listening to music. She enjoyed life! She was a strong and devoted mother to her sons: Thad, Stanley, and Josh and a host of grandkids.

She is survived by: her husband, Stanley Zenon; mother, Georgia Carmouche; her sons, Thaddeus (Helena) and Stanley (Terri) Carmouche; four sisters, Mable (Morris), Angela, Cynthia all of Lafayette and Yvette Carmouche of Lorton, VA; seven brothers, Donald (Jenny), Emery Jr. (Kathy), James (Patricia) Carmouche, Emery Campbell all of Lafayette, Mark (Aching) of Richmond, TX, Chad (Ayanna) of Prairieville, LA, and Marcus (Lynn) of Geismar, LA; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Joshua Augustine; father, Joseph Emery Carmouche Sr.; paternal grandparents, John Carmouche and the former Adele Broussard; maternal grandparents, Angela “Na-nan” Davis, Mable Duhon Richard, and Edmond Richard; sister, Rhonda Williams; nephew, Emery Carmouche, III; and 8 uncles and 6 aunts.

The family requests visiting hours be observed at Family Life Church (2223 Dulles Dr., Lafayette, LA 70506) from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until service time on Thursday.

Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, (337) 896-6366, is in charge of arrangements.
