Lafayette - Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Gethsemane Church of God In Christ for Eugene James Walker, Sr., 64, who died Friday, April 4, 2014 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Services will be conducted by Bishop Roy L. H. Winbush.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife of 34 years, Linda Trahan Walker; four daughters, Porsha Chevalier (Curtis), Kimberly Davis (Alex), Melanie Martin, Michelle Lambert (Brent); one son, Eugene James Walker Jr.; his mother, Viola Dugas Stevenson; four sisters, Barbara Ann Lawyer (Joseph), Martha and Mary Stevenson, Sally Jones; one brother, David Stevenson (Loretta), all of Lafayette; eleven grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward James Walker; stepfather, Joseph Stevenson Sr.; one infant grandson; two sisters, Rose Marie Stevenson and Kathy Ann Stevenson; two brothers, Joseph Stevenson Jr. and Willie Michael Stevenson; maternal grandparents, Lori and Abel Dugas, Sr. and paternal grandmother, Beatrice Walker.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Syrie Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 11:30 a.m.
