Lafayette – Funeral services will be held Friday, February 15, 2019 at 11:00 am at St Paul Catholic Church for Glenda “Gwen” Alexander-Bruno, 62, who died February 10, 2019 at her residence.
Services will be conducted by Fr Anthony Anala, SVD.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Gwen worked as a cook for several restaurants and attended Career Center where she achieved a secretarial certificate. She was a great cook and her talents have been gifted to her children. If you wanted a good laugh, just look in her purse. Her door was always open at a cost. She had a great sense of humor. She loved hanging out with her children and grandchildren. Above all, she was a devoted mother. She was very opinionated and a great listener. She had a big smile and a big heart. Her favorite pastime was watching “Law and Order, “Judge Judy” on TV and Bingo. Also, she gave the best house parties. She was the “boss”.
She is survived by her daughters, Kashall Alexander (Kevin Thibodeaux), Jessica Alexander, Meshell Alexander; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Albertha Martin, Francine Mitchell; brothers, Ernest Narcisse, Earl Narcisse (Diane Lambert), Wilson (Sabrina) Mitchell, John Mitchell (Cynthia Batiste), Ronald (Sandy) Mitchell; a host of nieces and nephews; companion, Rick Arceneaux.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Bruno; mother and father, Evelyn and Wilson Mitchell; brothers, Steve, Samuel and Willie Mitchell; sisters, Loretta Logan and Judy Ann Mitchell.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 15, 2019 at Syrie Funeral Home from 7:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m.
