Lafayette - Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 10:30 am at St Anthony Catholic Church for Raymond Joseph Charles, 58, who died Friday, September 27, 2013 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Deacon Albert Marcel will conduct services. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Raymond is survived by hiswife of 37 years, Prenella Batiste-Charles; father and stepmother Joseph and Linda Broussard of Oceanside, California, daughters JaVonna Charles (Sidney Young) of Lafayette, Kimberley (Nicholas) Jordan of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Katina Celestine of Cecilia, Louisiana; son Raymond (Tara) Jackson of Lafayette; granddaughters Allyson, Markel, Mi’Unique and Alyria; two brothers, Ramsey (Mary Ann) Charles of St Martinville, Louisiana and Donald Ray Charles of Birmingham, Alabama;sister Mary Lee (Bernard) Rodgers of Houston, Texas; a special sister-in-law, Jessie Mae Charles and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
His mother E Theresa Charles-Roy; stepfather, Addley Roy; sister, Mary Ann Roy-Ogbebor; maternal grandparents, Millien and Lydia Zeno-Charles; father -in-law, McKinley J.Batiste and brother-in-law, Wilbert J.Batiste, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 4, 2013 at Syrie Funeral Home from 5 pm until 9 pm and continue Saturday from 7:00 am until time of service.
A rosary will be recited on Friday at 7:00 pm.
