Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00am at Kinchen Funeral Home in Lafayette, Louisiana for Joseph David Carmouche, Sr, age 70, who passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018. Visitation is scheduled from 7:00am until the 11:00am service.

Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette, Louisiana following the funeral.

Joseph David Carmouche, Sr was born October 30, 1947 in Carencro, Louisiana to Ernest Carmouche and Wilda Bonnet Carmouche. David had a spirit and personality that many loved and those that knew him well knew of his deep love for animals and people alike. He always had a lesson to share, a story to tell, a hand to lend, and an ear to listen.

After graduating from Paul Breaux High School in 1966, he worked in the oilfield industry as a truck driver for nearly 25 years. After his career, he became a fulltime advocate for animals, which he loved most.

David leaves his legacy and strength to his loving companion and wife of 51 years, Edith Marie Victor Carmouche, and their children Thomas Christopher Carmouche (Jennifer) of Lafayette, Louisiana, Joseph David Carmouche Jr. (Clover) of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Jonathan Carmouche Sr (Danielle) of Tomball, Texas, Troy Carmouche Sr (Peggy) of Lafayette, Louisiana, Ernest Carmouche II (Tamika) of Lafayette, Louisiana and Thomasine Carmouche of Lafayette, Louisiana; sister, Earline C Boudreaux of Lafayette, Louisiana; brother Nicholas Miller of Carencro, Louisiana and sister-in-law Savie “Sue” Carmouche of Carencro, Louisiana. He also leaves his legacy and strength to sons Kennon Ryan (Tiffany), Treverance Faulk (Rachel), and Nicholas Bonner, all of Lafayette, Louisiana; daughters Rhonda Allen (Floyd), Shekethia Williams (Reginald) and Brittany Bonner, all of Lafayette, b; two aunts Julia Johnson and Joyce Johnson (Austin), both of Lafayette, Louisiana; great aunts Ozeta Carmouche Woods (105 years of age) and Anna Mae Carmouche Glaude both of Lafayette, Louisiana; godson Byron Thibodeaux of Lafayette, Louisiana and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, family relatives and lifelong friends.

He is preceded in death by parents Ernest Carmouche and Wilda Bonnet Carmouche; daughter, Bridget Reed; brother, Darrell Carmouche; paternal grandparents Garfield Carmouche and Mercedies Babineaux Carmouche; maternal grandparents Clarence Bonnet and Bella Dugas Bonnet; grandchildren: Precious, Anton and Troy Robertson-Carmouche; aunts Genevieve Griffin, Mable Charles and Anna Bonnet; and uncles June, Sylvester, Sherman, Willie, Logist and George Carmouche, as well as uncles Lennis and Alton Bonnet.
