November 2, 1942 - October 13, 2014
Nancy Patricia Mixon, 71, a member of an early Iberia Parish family, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014. Visitation will be at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive Friday, October 17, 2014 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm Friday evening at the funeral home. Visiting hours will resume on Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 10:30 am in the Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel of the Flowers. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Nancy graduated from Mount Carmel Academy in New Iberia, where she was all-state on the Cagers basketball team. She attended USL, where she was a member of Tri Delta sorority. She was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Lafayette for more than 30 years. Her career included homebuilding, property management, real estate, interior design, politics and sales. She was involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren, and embraced every phase of her life.
Nancy was an outgoing and generous lady who loved traveling, playing bridge, fishing, gardening, and antiques. She was a compassionate, resilient, and encouraging person who made everyone feel like a part of her family. Her devout faith, love of family and friends, and joie de vivre sustained her all her life.
Nancy is survived by children: Enid Farber and husband Bill of Concord, California; Louise Lambert, and husband Todd of Lafayette, Louisiana; Michael Thompson and wife Margaret of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; grandchildren, Paige Farber, Cole Lambert, Connor Lambert, Cooper Lambert, Joe Thompson; brothers Tynes Mixon and F G Mixon; sisters, Myrtis Mixon and Margaret Trahan; as well as a large and caring extended family.
She was preceded in death by parents, Tynes E Mixon and Egenie Decuir Mixon and sister Louise Mixon Peterson.
Pallbearers will be Cole Lambert, Connor Lambert, Ted Kibbe, Bill Farber, Tynes E Mixon II, and F G Mixon.
