Catahoula- A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am, on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at St. Rita Catholic Church in Saint Martinville, for Essie Camille Barras, 98, who passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2012. Rev. Richard Fabre will officiate at the Mass. Scriptures will be read by Jamie Barras. Inurnment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Mrs. Barras enjoyed sewing, cooking, dancing, and most especially loved spending time with her family. She was meticulous about her yard and loved being outdoors working in her yard, tending to her flowers and cutting her grass. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by two daughters, Lorita "Rita" Barras and Patsy Laperouse, both of Catahoula; two brothers, James Camille and wife, Vernice, of St. Martinville, and Wilson Camille of Port Arthur, TX; one sister, Elsie Latiolais of Catahoula; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Evelyn Duplechien Camille; her 1st husband, Frank Borel and her 2nd husband, John Barras; her son, Perry Borel; two brothers, Walter and Johnny Camille; and two sons-in-law, Allen Laperouse and Nootsie Barras. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Dion Hall on Saturday, beginning at 9:00 am until 10:45 am. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM on Saturday.
