He enlisted May 14, 1862, in Many, Louisiana and assigned to Company E, 11th Battalion Louisiana Infantry. On November 3, 1863, the 11th Battalion Louisiana Infantry was combined with several other units to form the Consolidated Crescent Regiment Louisiana Infantry. He was assigned to Company D. His name appeared on a Roll of Prisoners Of War on May 26, 1865, after the Confederate Army surrendered in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was paroled in Alexandria, Louisiana on June 26, 1865.
