March 10, 2007 - October 15, 2007

Funeral services for Aidan Randall Williams, infant son of Corey and Valery Williams, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 20, 2007, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Interment will follow in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA.

Aidan Randall Williams was born on March 10 and died on October 15, 2007. He had red hair and amazing blue eyes, and he would gaze at you as though he could see into your soul. He was gifted with an exceptionally wise and open spirit, and he forged a genuine connection with those who encountered him. A Minneapolis clergywoman recognized him as "a master teacher," and he did teach so many so much about courage and resilience and everlasting love.

At four months, he was diagnosed with osteopetrosis, a rare genetic bone disorder which is fatal without a bone marrow transplant. At six months, Aidan moved to Minneapolis with his parents to undergo the procedure, which involved a regimen of chemotherapy and radiation that he was simply unable to survive. His life included pain, from fractured bones and medical procedures, but he greeted life and those who cared for him with trust and joy.

Vaclav Havel once wrote that hope is not about believing that we can change things; rather, hope is about believing that what we do matters. Aidan's life and the beauty of spirit he expressed have mattered. Those of us who knew him well will be forever transformed, and hundreds who never met him have opened their hearts to him and his family and opened their spirits to God as they prayed for his healing. Aidan loved music, and he is safe now in the very heart of God, where all music has its deepest source.

God sent us Aidan as a special gift for seven short months, but the joy and love he gave us we will treasure in our hearts for a lifetime. To see Aidan was to love him. Those big blue eyes and his sweet smile captured the hearts of thousands. He is now safe being held in the arms of Jesus.

He is survived by his parents, Corey and Valery Williams; his grandparents, Bobbie and David Williams, John D. Blue, and Dr. Ellen Blue and Rev. Jim Wilson of Tulsa; his uncle and aunts, Jeff and Jessica Blue of Ponchatoula, Kay Taylor, and Wendy and Scott Hayes of El Dorado; great-uncles Leroy McDaniel of St. Joseph and Robert Jeffery Blue; and cousins Reagan and Will Taylor, Devin and Dylan Hays, Devin and Jourdan Blue, and Rachel and Elise Williams.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home.
