He enlisted May 14, 1862 in Many, Louisiana. On October 15, 1862, he was issued a Certificate of Disability for Chronic Bronchitis. He was discharged on October 17, 1862.
On November 3, 1863, Company E, 11th Battalion Louisiana Infantry was consolidated with the Crescent Regiment Louisiana Louisiana Infantry and the 16th Battalion Louisiana Infantry to form the Consolidated Crescent Regiment Louisiana Infantry.
