He enlisted September 30, 1861 at Camp Moore, Louisiana. His name appeared on a Roll of Prisoners of War upon capture on July 4, 1863 at Vicksburg, Mississippi. On May 26, 1865, his name appeared on Roll as a Prisoner of War upon his unit's surrender at New Orleans, Louisiana. He was paroled in Shreveport, Louisiana on June 17, 1865.
