Funeral services for Barbara Jean Owen, 88, longtime resident of Choudrant, LA will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Douglas Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Douglas Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 AM prior to the service at the church.Barbara was born on October 13, 1930 in Ruston, LA to the late Claude L. Leachman and Birdell G. Leachman and passed away on Monday, March 25 in Baton Rouge, LA. She enjoyed playing hot seat with her family and spending time holding her cat, Tally.She is preceded in death by her husband, David Owen; sons: James Owen and Jack Owen; and two sisters, Julia Faye Leachman and Nellie Murphy.Barbara is survived by her son, Dana Owen and daughter, Betty Owen Shaw (Donnie Leger); one brother, Laster Leachman (Wanda), and one sister, Dola Whitters (Larry); grandchildren: Allison Bozigian, Lori Shaw, Danny Owen, David Owen, Christine Gonzalez, Stephanie Owen, Danielle Owen, Heath Owen, Kim Weldon, Tina Newton, Melissa Ray, Jason Owen, and Lenae Bell; and numerous great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild.The family would like to thank TruCare Home Health for all of the excellent care they have given her over the past few years.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association.
