Funeral services for Mr John Taylor Grant, Jr, age 78, of Calhoun, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Owens Memorial Chapel with Ricky Edmiston officiating the service. Burial will follow in Douglas Cemetery in Choudrant, Louisiana under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.
Mr Grant was born August 6, 1940 in Shreveport, Louisiana to John and Margie Grant. He died in West Monroe, April 22, 2019. Mr Grant graduated Calhoun High School in 1958 and proudly served in Vietnam in the United States Air Force. He was employed by Bancroft Bag in West Monroe for 36 years. His hobbies included fishing, woodworking and furniture making using old barn boards.
He was preceded in death by sister-in-law Sally Roberts and husband John; sister-in-law Dorothy Williams; niece Mary Anderson; nephew John Roberts; great-nephew Christopher Edmiston and brother-in-law Johnny Williams.
Mr Grant is survived by his wife of 50 years Betty Williams Grant; his sister Carolyn Grant Donald and husband Jimmie of Lewisville, Texas; niece Brenda Barbee and husband Steve of Garland, Texas; nephew Randy Donald and wife Teresa of Lewisville, Texas; brothers-in-law Jimmy Williams and wife Judy, Terry Williams and wife Charlotte and Bud Williams all of Choudrant, Louisiana; lifelong friend and neighbor Roy Turner; great-nieces Hilary Donald and Hannah Donald; great-nephew Sam Barbee and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Williams, Terry Williams, Buddy Williams, Randy Donald, Steve Barbee and Roy Turner.
