Funeral services for Mrs. Altha Wiley Crofoot, age 91 of Ruston, will be held at 11:00 am Monday, August 15, 2016, at the Douglas United Methodist Church in Ruston, LA, with Rev. Jeremy Jones and Rev. Rolly Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Douglas Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.
Mrs. Crofoot was born on February 13, 1925, in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, to the union of Perry Lofton Wiley and Jennie LaPrairie Wiley. She went to her heavenly home August 13, 2016. She was a retired nurse who loved serving others. Among the many ways she served was through her church. Having been the wife of a United Methodist pastor for many, many years, Mrs. Altha was often found doing mission work with United Methodist Women, teaching Bible studies and Sunday school, and feeding friends with her delicious casseroles and desserts. She was a true servant of the Lord and a dear friend to many. She was dearly loved by her seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren who affectionately called her Grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-seven years Rev. Raymond Crofoot. They married January 3, 1943.
Mrs. Crofoot is survived by their two daughters: Connie Crofoot McKenzie and Brenda Crofoot Wright; one son-in-law John W. McKenzie, Sr.; seven grandchildren: Kimberly McKenzie Wardell and husband Phil, Lori Bridges Fallon and husband Greg, Will Bridges and wife Laurie, Ashley McKenzie O’Leary and husband John, Thomas Wright, John McKenzie, Jr. and wife Heather, Rosalyn Wright Hall and husband Jamie; fourteen great-grandchildren: Caroline, Caleb, Sydney, Jeremiah, Clark, McKenzie, Mallory, Savannah, Abram, Clintt, John-Mark, Rayleigh, Clay, and John-Luke; one brother Haywood Wiley and one sister Pauline Wiley Baker.
Pallbearers will be Will Bridges, Thomas Wright, John McKenzie, Jr., Greg Fallon, Phil Wardell, John O’Leary, and Jamie Hall. Honorary pallbearer will be John McKenzie, Sr.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 15, 2016, at Douglas United Methodist Church in Ruston until time for the service. Planned memorials may be made to the Douglas United Methodist Church building fund.
