January 13, 1944 - April 21, 2017

Antoinette "Toni" Liner Colvin, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully in her home on April 21, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was 73 years old. Born on January 13, 1944 to Myrtis and Prentiss Liner in Ruston, Louisiana. Toni's parents both passed away when she was very young and she was raised by her Aunt Thelma Liner Atkins who she knew as her mother. Toni grew up in Ruston graduating from Ruston High School. Toni loved music, dancing and was an excellent tennis player in her younger days. While in high school she was voted "Most Athletic." Toni was a "people person", very friendly and never met a stranger. After high school she attended Louisiana Tech University where she met Wesley Colvin to whom she was married for 17 years.

Toni attended Norton Business School in Shreveport and received her secretarial certificate. She obtained a position with State Farm Insurance Company where she employed her organizational, managerial and people talents. She was a devoted and valued employee there for over 20 years.

Family and friends describe Toni as gregarious, humorous, and as someone who liked to stay busy. In her later years she loved traveling. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bossier and her Christian faith was very important to her. She loved the outdoors and had a green thumb. Toni was a good friend, neighbor and devoted mother and family member. She was a wonderful cook and loved to have her entire family with her on special occasions serving delicious home cooked meals.

Toni is survived by her children: Kim Colvin Birch of Ruston, Karen Colvin Brown (Robert) of Benton, Michael Colvin of Shreveport, and Laura Colvin (Amos Stephens) of Wasilla, Alaska; brother Jay Atkins (Brenda) of Ruston; five grandchildren (Hannah Colvin Pitcher, Victoria Liner Birch, Alexandra Youngblood Birch, Michael Paul Colvin, Claudia Marie Colvin), one great-grandchild (Madison Pitcher); dear friends the Mildred and O'Quinn Walker Family; and Toni's very close friends Belvia Stelly and Lisa Stelly who were like family. Toni was preceded in death by her parents (Myrtis and Prentiss Liner), Aunt Thelma Atkins, and former husband Wesley Colvin.

On April 23 a memorial was held at the family home in celebration of Toni's life. The family would like to thank all who attended and generously brought food and flowers. Memorials can be made in memory of Toni to the American Lung Association (lung.org or call 1-800-586-4872).
