He enlisted May 7, 1863 in Natchitoches, Louisiana. On November 3, 1863, the 11th Battalion Louisiana Infantry was consolidated with the Consolidated Crescent Regiment Louisiana Infantry. His name appeared on a Roll of Prisoners Of War upon his unit's surrender in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 26, 1865. He was paroled in Alexandria, Louisiana on June 15, 1865.
