A memorial service for James M Grafton, 82, of Lafayette will be held at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Bernice, Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 12:30 pm.
Pastor Scott Scallan will officiate.

Mr Grafton, formerly of Jena, Louisiana passed away Friday, February 8, 2013 in Lafayette after a long illness through which he displayed his sense of humor and courage until the end.

Those waiting to welcome him Home include his parents Monroe and Edith Grafton; his wife of 47 years Alice Grafton; son Johnny Higgins; son-in-law Jerry Ingram; sisters Bea Davis and Doris Doss.

He is survived by daughter Susan Ingram of Pineville, Louisiana; Grandchildren Debbye Storer; Stephanie Ingram; Jeff Ingram and wife Annette; Darron Ingram and wife Susie and eight Great-Grandchildren.

He is also survived by loving wife of seven years, Jean Peyton Grafton along with her children, Janene Hammer and husband, David; Sonja Comeaux; Michael Peyton; seven Grandchildren and two Great-Grandchildren.

After serving in the Air Force, Mr Grafton worked in the Logging industry in his Father's business before taking over that business and running it until retirement. "Pepaw" was a loving Grandfather who not only thought that all children should have a swing set, but made sure that they did. He was a long and faithful fan of the Tioga Indians where his son-in-law Jerry Ingram coached and two Grandchildren and one Great-Grandchild played. Mr. Grafton was ever present at various events including Little League games, All-star games, High School football games and track meets with his video camera recording memories that still last today.
