From the Louisiana Archives ~ Hodge, Benjamin L, Captain Colonel Company I, F. and S, 19th Louisiana Infantry. Enlisted December 11, 1861, -. Roll for December 10 to 31, 1861, Absent, sick, in New Orleans, under medical attendance. Roll for May & June, 1862, Resigned May 29, 1862, and went home, but not yet acted on. Roll for July & August 1862, Resignation accepted July 15, 1862. Roster dated March, 1865, Elected Colonel, November 11, 1861. Resigned July 15, 1862.
