February 11, 1842 - November 28, 1921

He entered Confederate service as a 2nd Lieutenant on September 20, 1861 at Camp Moore, Louisiana. On December 23, 1861, he was promoted to Captain, and in September 1862, he was promoted to Major. On July 4, 1863, he was captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi after Confederate forces capitulated. He was a Lieutenant Colonel at the time of surrender. He was paroled July 10, 1863.
