Documents within the Compiled Service Records did not provide a rank, but did show him attached to Company E 31 Regiment Louisiana Infantry. Documents within the Confederate Papers Relating To Citizens Or Business Firms, 1861-1865, The National Archives, Publication M346, Roll 0557 reported he was paid $336 for 21-day total for one team, six mules and driver for July 28, 1863 to August 17, 1863 in Monroe, Louisiana. On September 15, 1863, he was paid $18 for one night boarding of six men, and providing wagons and teams to haul government supplies from Monroe to Arcadia. On an unspecified date, he was paid $25 for one night and for services rendered in boarding men and foraging horses for 12 men. Other records report him listed as a conscript in CSA General Hospital Shreveport on October 29, 1864 until November 20, 1864.
